Cyber security review

See where an attacker would get into your business

We check your accounts, computers, email, network and backups, then hand you a short list of what to fix first.

Most attacks on small businesses are not clever. They rely on a reused password, a convincing email or a laptop that missed its updates.

  • Accounts, devices, email and backups checked
  • A short report with clear priorities
  • Explained in plain English

Six reasons businesses ask for a review

If one of these is yours, a review will answer it.

  • "We had a close call"

Someone clicked a link, or a customer got a strange email from your address. The review checks what usually sits behind a scare like that: sign-in codes, email filtering and who can still log in.

  • "We were sent a security questionnaire"

An insurer or a customer wants to know if you have sign-in codes, backups and staff training, and you are not sure what to tick. The review gives you answers you can stand over and a list of what to fix first.

  • "We hold client or patient records"

For an accountant, a solicitor or a clinic, a mailbox full of client files is what an attacker wants most. The review looks at who can reach that data, how it is backed up and whether a lost laptop would expose it.

  • "We send invoices and pay suppliers by email"

Then invoice fraud is the scam aimed at you. It starts with someone getting into a mailbox and waiting, so the review checks how well yours are protected.

  • "We have grown and nobody has looked at this"

The setup that suited a handful of people is now running a full office. Old accounts, shared passwords and everyone having access to everything build up quietly. The review finds them.

  • "I look after IT on top of my real job"

You set things up as well as you could and nobody has checked them since. The review is a second pair of eyes, and the report is a list you can work through yourself or hand to us.

How attacks get in

Six ordinary ways attackers get into a small business

None of them needs a skilled hacker. Attackers go after whatever is easiest to get into, and small businesses often make that easy without knowing it.

  • Stolen passwords

A password reused from another website, or typed into a fake login page, lets someone read your email and files as if they were you.

  • Invoice and payment fraud

A criminal gets into a mailbox, waits for an invoice to go out, then emails your customer new bank details. It is one of the most costly scams aimed at Irish businesses.

  • Ransomware

Harmful software locks every file on your computers and demands payment. Without a good backup, work stops until you pay or rebuild.

  • Out-of-date computers

Computers that have missed updates have known weaknesses, and attackers use automated tools to find them.

  • Missing backups

Many businesses assume Microsoft or Google keeps a copy of everything. They keep the service running, but deleted or encrypted data is often gone for good.

  • Old accounts and too much access

Former staff who can still log in, or everyone having access to everything, turns one stolen password into a much bigger problem.

The review

We check your setup and tell you what to fix first

You get a short report with the fixes in order of priority.

A cyber security review is a detailed look at how your accounts, computers, email, network and backups are actually set up. We then give you a short report with clear priorities for your business.

It is the fastest way to know where you really stand. A questionnaire can only tell you what you think is in place. A review checks.

What we look at

  • How well your email accounts and passwords are protected
  • Whether your computers would stand up to an attack
  • How incoming email is filtered
  • How your network is set up
  • Whether your backups can be relied on
  • Who has access to what

After the review

What happens once you have the report

The review is the first step. If you ask us to act on it, this is the order we work in.

  1. 1

    Review

We look at how your business is set up today and give you a plain-English list of what to fix first.

  2. 2

    Protect

We close the biggest gaps: sign-in codes, security software, updates, email filtering and backups.

  3. 3

    Watch and respond

Your computers are watched around the clock. If something suspicious happens, the device is cut off and we get to work.

  4. 4

    Improve

We review your security regularly and adjust as your business and the threats change.

Before you book

Questions we get asked before a review

What does a review cost?

It depends on the size of your business and what you want looked at. Tell us both and we will give you a price.

Is my business too small to be a target?

No. Most attacks are automated and aimed at whoever is easiest to get into, not at big names. Small businesses rely on email, online banking and cloud files just as much as large ones, and often have fewer protections in place.

We have antivirus. Is that not enough?

Antivirus looks for known viruses. Most attacks on small businesses now use stolen passwords, scam emails or normal-looking tools that antivirus does not flag. Modern protection watches how things behave, and a person checks what it finds.

Is a review part of joining Solida?

Yes. Every new client gets an in-depth cyber security review when they join, so they know where they stand and what we are fixing first.

Can you work alongside our own IT person?

Yes. We can take on security, monitoring and updates so your IT person has specialist backup and more time for everything else.
